Jason Hodgdon Captures Win at Oktoberfest!

Lee, NH -

The New England Dwarf Cars returned to Lee USA Speedway to take park in Russ Conway’s Oktoberfest and the second to last scheduled points event for the 2023 season. 19 Dwarf cars rolled into the pits but Cody Hodgdon (31), who entered the event 3rd in points, lost his motor in practice. With a day that had 9 divisions and 13 features on the schedule Cody Hodgdon and crew were able to swap a motor out for the future.

Kenny “Caveman” Scott Jr (72) entered the day leading the Rookie of Year points standings but would make hard contact with the backstretch wall ending his day until Stu McCormick (04) who isn’t running for points offered up his seat to allow Scott to hopefully stay in the battle for rookie of the year. Heat races were won by 92z Zig Geno, 29 Tom Harwood, and 67 Alan Robidas. The invert for the feature would be pull by Geno and the number 12 was pulled.

Geno would take the lead on lap 6 and would lead until his day ended due to a throttle linkage issue on lap 21. Though Genoa’s day would be all bad thanks to Rice Handyman Services of Windham, ME putting up $300 to whoever finished the feature in the spot of the invert number.

Jason Hodgdon (31h) took the win after a spin on lap 2 put him to the rear. He proceeded to pass 17 cars on his way ti victory lane! Andrew Harmon (14) finished 2nd after a season of misfortune and bad luck. Ryan Carman (08) made a pass just before the finish line to take home 3rd as he continues to put a string of quality finishes together that will move him to 3rd in points heading into the season finale. Tom Harwood (29) finished 4th after getting hung out on the outside groove trying to make a last lap pass for the win. Justin Harris (29NH) finished 5th and increased his points lead to 71 but wasn’t able to clinch the championship.

Tim Griffith (25) seized the opportunity and regained the lead in the Rookie of the Year standings but only by 5 points with one race left. Chris Sullivan (0no) entered the day 2nd in points with a 67 point difference; despite early race struggles that looked to be what Harris would need to clinch the championship Sullivan rebounded to finish 7th. Sullivan will enter the season finale mathematically in contention for the championship.

Huge thank you to SOS Towing and Recovery out of Windham, ME for the payout to the top 5 finishers! Thank you to Bumpy’s Auto Service- Salem, NH for sponsoring the trophies and American Racer of New England for the great race tires!

Our Championship race will be Saturday October 14th as part of the Claremont Motorsports Park Fall Classic weekend.
